el paso zoo

EL PASO ZOO

El Paso, TX

Nov. 9-10 and 15-16, 2013

November 9 to November 17 is Orangutan Caring Week. This campaign encourages people around the world to support orangutan conservation efforts including how we are asking people to avoid "purchasing products that use palm oil, palm kernelor other palm oil plant products unless they come from sustainable sources." Unfortunately at this time that is almost impossible to do since products with palm oil in El Paso are not labeled as coming from 100% sustainable sources.

At the El Paso Zoo on November 9 and 10 and 15 and 16 we have special orangutan presentations planned each day at our Sumatran Orangutan Exhibit at 12:30. During this time we will be doing what we try to do every day and that is help our guests understand how they can help orangutans by learning about the palm oil crisis and downloading our free Palm Oil Guide and Scanner app. Learn more at
http://www.elpasozoo.org/Press-Release-68.php

During this week and over the next few months our Conservation Committee is also reviewing proposals on how we can support in-situ conservation efforts in Indonesia and Malaysia in cooperation with the World Wildlife Fund, the APE TAG and other groups.

Green Tree is GOING ORANGE FOR ORANGUTAN CARING WEEK by supporting the wildlife conservation charity Orangutan Protection Foundation (OPF)

They donate 100% of the profit from a selection of their products to the charity. They also sell merchandise on behalf of OPF, with all proceeds going to them for the conservation of the Orangutan and its rainforest habitat.

You'll find a dedicated OPF category for charity-related items when you enter the SHOP http://www.greentree.co/
