Syarifah Lia Andriati (far right) receives first OUREI funded Orangutan Caring ScholarshipWe are seeking proposals in 2018 from Indonesian NGOs that are positioned to develop and deliver education curricula to target communities where orangutan survival is at risk.  We will prioritize and select the most appropriate proposal(s) that meet our criteria for funding. We will then attempt to locate funds or assist the NGO(s) in acquiring those funds.

Our main focus in 2018 will be continuing to build capacity of the Orangutan Caring Foundation of Indonesia and the MECU program as well as working with NGOs in North Sumatra and Aceh where human-orangutan conflict is most severe.

As a rule, OURF funding will be modest, but we will be able to grant larger and more numerous grants as our funding sources become more stable and numerous. We may also fund only a portion of a grant proposal so applying NGOs should locate other sources of funds. A list of recipients of OURF grants are provided.
